You don’t need to pull out a deep fryer for this recipe. The Dear Dacy Dutch Oven is the perfect size for small batch frying because it maintains the oil temperature perfectly.
Prep the Oil: Preheat oil to 350 degrees F. If it goes over a bit, that’s fine anywhere btwn 350-365 degrees F.
( I like to keep a Candy Thermometer around)
Ingredients + Directions
2 lbs Jumbo Shrimp peeled, deveined tails on
1 tbsp Dash of Dacy Honey Garlic Pepper
1 tsp Dash of Dacy Salt & Pepper Blend
2 eggs - only using egg whites
Once shrimp is deveined/cleaned, pat dry with paper towel, season with ingredients listed above and set aside.
Flour/Cornstarch mix
2 cup Cornstarch
1 cup of flour
1 tbsp Dash of Dacy Honey Garlic Pepper
1 tsp Dash of Dacy Salt & Pepper Blend
1/2 tsp baking soda
Mix all ingredients together. Once oil is hot, dredge shrimp in seasoned mix flour, shake of excess flour and place on cooling rack.
Once all of the Shrimp is coated and the oil is hot begin to deep fry. Cook shrimp for about 2 minutes per batch. Set aside and make the sauce.
Honey Garlic Sauce
1 cup Honey
1/2 cup Chicken Stock
1/4 cup Soy Sauce
1/4 cup Orange Juice
2 tbsp Sugar
1 Tbsp Dash of Dacy Honey Garlic Pepper
(Mix all of the ingredients together)
1 tbsp Cooking Oil
1/2 tsp Sesame Oil
5 Garlic Gloves, minced
3 Scallions/Green Onion (Garnish)
Dash of Red Pepper Flakes
In a large saucepan, heat cooking oil + sesame oil. Add garlic and sauté on medium heat for 30 seconds. Add about 1/2 of the honey garlic sauce, simmer for 2 mins. Add red pepper flakes.
Keeping the heat on medium, gently add the shrimp to the sauce.
**At this point if you want to add the remainder of the sauce you can depending on if you want it really saucy. If you feel like you have enough sauce then don’t add anymore**
Lightly toss the shrimp in the sauce, and simmer for an additional 2 minutes. Garnish with scallion. Let it rest for 5’minutes.
